Pinhooking ventures involve buying horses as an investment for resale. The two most common pinhooking ventures are the purchases of weanlings to resell as yearlings and the purchase of yearlings to resell as two-year-olds.

Two recent successful pinhooks of horses selected by Alistair were sold at the recently concluded Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Hip 978, the bay filly by Grand Slam out of Kerry Gold was purchased for $240,000 and Hip 2069, the bay colt by Belong to Me out of Cup of Tricks was purchased for $150,000. Both were purchased privately as weanlings last fall and represented profit for clients.
